Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory

September 13, 2007 11:09 by rclarkson

The fix so far is to use this

 Change to this to your web.config

[code:html] <forms timeout="129600" name=".AUXBLOGENGINE" protection="All" slidingExpiration="true" loginUrl="~/login.aspx" cookieless="UseCookies" /> [/code]

Remove the app_browser files

Then run against http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers/

Give it a try.

The easiest XML Role Provider that I can come up with

September 12, 2007 16:37 by rclarkson

I have looked at a lot of versions of xmlroleproviders and this one is the easiest so far.  I just pasted all the code so you can see the entire thing.  Some things to note is that there are self healing "roles" that get added to the role provider regardless what the end users want.  It also creates the file and adds the default roles if the file does not exist.  That is a safeguard for the developer.  We are using this on BE 1.2 and it seems to be going well.  At first I was just going to add a "readonly" approach but saw the light and viola.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory in BlogEngine.Net

September 12, 2007 11:27 by rclarkson

Here is a fix for the Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory issue on Codeplex.  Just add the folder and contents to the root of your BE installation.  I ran it for a full day and had no errors with GoogleBot or Slurp.  However, as soon as I removed it, error after error after error.  We worked a couple of coding overrides in the default.aspx, which is still there in the download as of this post, but it did not take care of the issue.  We will do something different.  This is not going to be the long view fix.

Fly Fishing at the Meramac Springs

September 11, 2007 11:33 by rclarkson

I went fishing about a week ago and had a little bit of luck.  I caught one and my buddy limited out early.  He was using a Prince Nymph.  He easily caught a dozen fish before he found his last one.

Why giving and gratitude go hand and hand

September 10, 2007 17:08 by rclarkson

There is something that I have been wanting to share with the world for awhile now.  That something is gratitude.  I have been practicing Science Of Mind for three years now and the most powerful experience this far is surrounded by gratitude.  It's pretty hard to share some of the details with you so I will not do so in this forum.  However, there is a small story I would like to share.

While staying in a state of gratitude and listening to my intution I was compelled to give a gift to another person.  That person was a friend whom I have known for a little over a year, our boys go to Boy Scouts, I got him hooked on fly fishing, and we talk on occasions when we pick the kids up from school.  How it started was us talking about tying flies for fly fishing.  He did not have the equipment nor the money at the time to buy what he needed to start tying his own flies.  Also, he is in the Armed Forces and does not make a lot of money.  Anyway, I felt compelled to buy him what he needed to get started.  It wasn't that much to me but it would me more to him.  So, I got the equipment and a gift card.  Now the gift card was a surprise to me as well but I did it any way.  Of course he was happy to get it, he came over with his brother and some other friends of mine and we tied flies and drank some beer.  It was a good time.  The interesting reciprocity of universe occured a week later.  While getting ready for a fishing trip my buddy gave me some waders, boots and wet socks that no longer fit him.  The equipment he gave me out of the blue was easily worth what I gave my other friend.  If that isn't enough, every other time I go into Walgreens I buy one of those $1 shoe the shoeless donation cards.  Simple enough right?  Another friend of mine was in a store and saw a shirt that remined them of me so they bought it for me.  They never bought anything for me before.  Over the weeks I have been telling this story to a group of people in my class.  One lady was so inspired that she gave me a book, worth well over $100, just to jump on board with what I call "Giving is Gratitude" wave.  I haven't heard her success story but it will be soon enough and it may be bigger than she imagined.

So, if you ever think you cannot give, go to Walgreens.

Again, another new BlogEngine.Net extension

September 6, 2007 12:48 by rclarkson

MADS has done it again.  He wrote an extension that takes what is dubbed "autolinks".  This page is a demonstration of how it works.  Here are some of my autolinks

lmc;

kjs;

BE;

HAACKED;

sz

There are some things to consider when using the autolinks.  It is in testing.  If you are interested here is the code.

New theme for BlogEngine.Net (BE.N)

September 4, 2007 03:22 by rclarkson

I have migrated the theme being used on the site from a CSS template.  It could be added to the BlogEngine.Net 1.2 release but I need a little help.  I am working on other parts of the BE.N, like code/syntax highlighting.  However, I really would like to publish a new theme.

So, if there is anyone who is willing to help me out a little let me know.  I have most of it done, I just need a few tweaks on the CSS.

If anyone wants to partner up on a couple, I can migrate them pretty quickly.

Let me, know.   Below is the zip file.
